Skye's Void is an animated project that explores the consequences of humanity’s pursuit of technological singularity in a post-apocalyptic world.
After the collapse caused by project G.E.N.E.S.I.S, a global organization that researched singularity to solve humanity’s problems and achieve higher evolution, which led to human extinction, Skye, the last surviving (half) human, wanders a planet now inhabited by creatures born from the Void — an artificial black hole that reshaped Earth's existence.
Accompanied by Sin, a mysterious entity tied to the Void, Skye faces dilemmas of identity, ethics, and survival, represented by the Matrice Beings, powerful entities born from the void embodying different aspects of humanity’s legacy. Each encounter challenges her beliefs and forces her to question whether humankind even deserves a new beginning.
With a dark aesthetic and a narrative rich in symbolism, the series blends action, drama, and philosophical ethics reflections on the balance between technology and nature.
The first episode "The G.E.N.E.S.I.S. Portal" follows a classic three-act structure, reflecting the premise of Skye’s Void by introducing the world, the protagonist’s dilemmas, and her first major confrontation with a Matrice Being.
Act 1 – Introduction
The episode begins by establishing the series’ dark and desolate tone. Skye and Sin explore a world devastated by technological singularity, filled with ruins and remains of an extinct civilization. The G.E.N.E.S.I.S. Portal, a remnant of the experiment that led to the collapse, symbolizes both destruction and the possibility of salvation. The relationship between Skye and Sin is introduced, highlighting their dynamic: Skye is impulsive and determined, while Sin is enigmatic and rational.
Act 2 – Conflict
Upon interacting with the portal, Skye is transported to a mysterious temple, where she encounters Keeper, a Matrice Being who represents nature’s rage against humanity.
The confrontation between them is not just physical but also ideological. Keeper exposes humanity’s guilt for the planet’s destruction and questions Skye’s right to seek redemption. Skye, in turn, challenges this fatalistic view and insists that hope still exists.
Act 3 – Climax and Resolution
The battle between Skye and Keeper intensifies the episode’s central dilemma. During the fight, Skye realizes that Keeper’s pain is rooted in the destruction caused by humans, but she also notices his contradiction in protecting a temple dedicated to a human figure. This moment of hesitation hints that change might be possible. In the end, Skye survives the encounter, Sin reactivates the portal, and the journey continues, leaving open questions about what it truly means to save the world.
